Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts is an annual 4 day music festival that began near Glastonbury in 1981. It plays a lot of contemporary music and has up to 170,000 people attending. I think that the closest thing that Americans have is Woodstock.
People often camp out there for the whole festival. It also tends to rain so you see people in their wellies and covered in mud.
The tickets sell out quickly. You can register your interest and they will inform you when the tickets are going to go on sale. There are not any tickets left for 2011 but you could always go the next year.
I am sure it will be an experience you will never forget.
