Why don't the English have air conditioning?

This is a common question I hear. It is actually Europe as a whole doesn't have air conditioning. Energy is expensive and it is seen as a luxury. The heat (although it feels like it lasts forever) doesn't last long enough to warrant air conditioning. Instead you can take your shirt off, have a pint and join the British :)
