I belong to a few groups that are tied to the Carbon Footprint which are great ways to expand the world that we live in and I definitely get an insight with other people's views on the world. I know that I don't always have the right view and this is a way to inform myself particularly in environmental issues. Luckily for me, Cambridge has a group for every topic that I wish to explore, if only I had the time. I do try to attend events around Cambridge so that I am exposed to all these different views because I personally feel the people that oppose are the ones that develop your own thoughts (am wondering if this post is being influenced by the philosophy podcast that I am listening to).
Back to the post. In one of these groups that I am involved in, we read books on the subject and then get together for a meal where we all bring something and then talk about the book. I think this particular group really touched me because other than another blog that I write about my concerns for the world, I never really get to talk about these issues unless I am enforcing something new in the house. I think if you have an interest in something, it is important to be around others in the same boat. It reinforces your cause and proves to yourself that you are not crazy or you are in good company!
Rather than buying these books for the group, I have reserve a book at the Cambridge Central Library which I will pick up on Friday. I just want to remind you that there is so much available than what is on base!
