Pants

Pants is another one of the words that can get confusing. The British use pants  in place of underwear and trousers in place of the American pants.

One day when I was working at a British firm, I overheard a woman talking to two other ladies and she said that "the men left their pants out in the kitchen", the other ladies made a face. She had to clarify that "the pants" were the American pants and not the British ones. So even they get confused!
