About Me

Hi! I am Kim. I have gone from serving 10 years in the United States Air Force to living in the UK with my English husband. I was stationed at Minot Air Force Base for 5 years and did a tour at Osan AB, Korea before coming to England in 2006. I separated in 2009 and have been through into living like a Britain! I have my Indefinite Leave to Remain Visa so I think I am going to be here for a long time!

I try to write about things from an American perspective so that I can help others enjoy their experience. I think that people are so lucky to be stationed here and they should make the most of it!

I only suggest places that I have been to, so that you get my honest opinion (you might not always agree with me). I also try to explain the quirky things the British do and why!

Everyday I learn something new and its a good thing I have a sense of humour. They say that although we speak the same language (roughly) we are very different and its very true!

I have just finished my Bachelors of Arts in History in Modern European Studies. So I am looking forward to all that I have learned to improve my posts and give you the best information I can find.

Hope you enjoy my website and if you have any questions feel free to ask, that's what I am here for!

  1. Hi, I’m an intern for a Leopard Films. We produce a variety of shows for HGTV. I’m finding expatriates for House Hunters International casting. Here’s a message from one of our casting directors!

Hello! My name is Joe Pinzone and I work on a very popular international travel series that documents adventurous individuals’, couples’ and families’ experiences as they make the decision to move abroad. This series is a great opportunity to tell your story and share more about what you like/dislike about your new home. If you think that you or someone you know could be a fit for the show, or if you’d like to get more information, please contact me at JoePinzone@LeopardUSA.com. Thanks!

  2. I'm English and lived in a Suffolk village for most of my life.We have lived with American servicemen and women who live off base and they are as much as part of us as anyone else. When they bombed Libya we geared the bomber leave and we all stayed up all night willing them to come back safe.We felt the loss when your young men die as strongly as when ours die.Yheir is no difference in the way we feel. Most English people stand side by side with Americans and when I was a soldier fought alongside US troops we even had an American General. We are different but that's what makes it interesting. We are always your friend nothing will ever change that.Your us with a funny accent.

  3. Hi! I am Nerissa, a Filipino living in Italy.
We just started a website dedicated to the lives of all those living in a country other than the one where they were born. Thru PeopleAbroad.org we intend to increase connections, awareness, and understanding among people.
We would like to ask you to contribute as an author to the website by writing even one single post with photos and/or videos about the region of the world you live in. Your post can be externally linked to your personal websites, blogs, Facebook pages, Twitter account, and/or anything else you like, in order to promote your own activity.
If possible, we would also like you to write your story (bio - where you live and how you decided to live your life abroad) – example: https://www.peopleabroad.org/nerissa-filipino-living-in-italy/.
To become an author, it is not necessary to live in a different country from where you were born, but simply to know a bit of the world by having lived, studied, or traveled abroad.
Please, sign up to our website at https://www.peopleabroad.org/register/ and send all your files with things you would like to share (your story or your posts) by email to people(at)peopleabroad(dot)org. In case of big files, send them by WETRANSFER.
Since this website is still under construction, we do not have yet made it available to search engines for indexation. So, to access it, just type www.PeopleAbroad.org.
We are just starting and that is why your help is essential. We would love to see you onboard!
    All the best,
